Privacy + Confidentiality

Your confidentiality and Privacy are essential

Step 1 After you book your appointment

You will be emailed an informed consent form which will outline what you need to know before proceeding with counselling. This form follows ethical guidelines of being a professional in the field. It is important that you read the form fully and I can answer any questions you may have.

Step 2 You will also complete an Intake Form

As well, you will be emailed a secure link to an intake form. It is hopeful that you will take the time to fill it out as it will save considerable time for counselling. This part of the process is important as it gives me the ability to assess how I can be the most helpful.

What are a therapist’s legal and ethical responsibilities?

As a registered clinical counsellor in British Columbia, Canada I am obligated to adhere to guidelines that preserve your rights. Confidentiality is an important factor. There are some exceptions we would discuss in the informed consent process such as if you were to reveal that you are planning to harm yourself or someone else. Thus, in being a professional I am transparent with the formalities and will be ready to answer any of your questions before and during counselling sessions.
