Online Counselling Benefits:

Accessibility:

Today’s lifestyle seems to be hectic for many. Live video counselling makes it easier for people to have access to a counsellor beyond regular office hours and while on the go. An individual could be on a family holiday or business trip and still have access to support. Further, if you are in a remote location this could be your most convenient access to therapy.

For individuals with health problems and mobility issues online counselling can be less stressful than sitting in a stuffy waiting room or office with potentially stiff chairs. Counselling can be from any room in your home. Perhaps, you could be relaxing in your favorite chair, perched leisurely on your own couch, or even outdoors in your private yard setting.

Stigma:

Some people feel embarrassed to visit a counsellor’s office due to the fear of others knowing that they are seeking therapy. Online counselling eliminates this worry.

Privacy/Confidentiality:

As a registered clinical counsellor in BC I am bound by ethical and legal responsibilities. Your privacy and confidentiality are ensured by using a video and chat platform that uses encryption similar to bank -grade level barriers. Too, if you are really concerned it is possible for you to use a special alias email account when signing up.

Phone Counselling:

Phone counselling can have similar benefits to video counselling and is a great way to continue therapy if there are internet connection issues. Many people prefer the first initial complementary 15 minute introduction to be on the phone to see if it is a good fit and ask questions.
